ASPCA And Megan Thee Stallion's Foundation Help 29 Pets Find Homes In NYC

  1. Animal Care Centers of NYC kicked off this year's Rescue Effect campaign with a fee-waived adoption event at its Queens Animal Care Center.
  2. The event, backed by a $10,000 ASPCA grant and volunteers from Megan Thee Stallion's Pete & Thomas Foundation, helped 29 dogs, cats and rabbits find homes in a single day.
  3. As part of the nationwide campaign, the ASPCA is providing $2 million in grants to help 200 shelters waive adoption fees this year.

The ASPCA teamed up with Animal Care Centers of NYC and Megan Thee Stallion's Pete & Thomas Foundation to launch this year's Rescue Effect campaign, finding homes for 29 shelter animals at a single Queens event.

Why it matters

The grant funding behind the campaign is designed to take the cost barrier out of adoption right as shelters nationwide are seeing overcrowding, giving more dogs a faster path out of the shelter system.

What to watch

The Rescue Effect campaign continues at participating shelters nationwide through the rest of the year, with more fee-waived adoption events expected.
